Admiral Raquel Bono Joins the Value Institute for Health and Care

We are pleased to announce that Vice Admiral Raquel Bono, MD (retired), has joined the Value Institute for Health and Care as a visiting scholar. In this role, she will teach in the Master of Science in Health Care Transformation degree program, participate in the Value Institute’s thought leadership efforts, and mentor students.

UT Health Austin named a grantee in the Cardinal Health Foundation’s Zero Suicide Collaborative

UT Health Austin’s Zero Suicide implementation team, which includes Outcomes Program Officer Kathy Carberry and MS Health Care Transformation Alum and Director of Clinical Social Work Donna Shanor, has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Cardinal Health Foundation and will join the foundation’s Zero Suicide Collaborative. With 16 other hospitals across the country, UT Health Austin’s team will work with the Zero Suicide Institute to better assess suicide risk and prevent suicides.

On October 22, Managing Director Scott Wallace presented “Evaluating Costs for Strategic Decision-Making” for the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association’s Health Care Transformation Leadership Program. He led participants in examining the impact of different approaches to measuring costs and how those approaches influence managerial decisions or priorities.
