Congratulations Class of 2020 and Welcome Class of 2021!

Congratulations to the inaugural class of our MS in Health Care Transformation program. Their investiture takes place Saturday, August 8, and will feature several guest speakers, including Toby Cosgrove, former president and CEO of the Cleveland Clinic; Interim President of UT Jay Hartzell; and Dean of Dell Medical School Clay Johnston.

We would also like to welcome the incoming Class of 2021. This diverse group of students will start the program on Monday, August 3. We are excited to see them learn and grow over the year.

Fall Executive Education Registration is Now Open

Two virtual executive education programs are now open for registration. Student for a Day

If you are interested in the MS in Health Care Transformation program, join one of our 90-minute roundtable case discussions designed specifically for prospective students. These sessions are a great way to experience the online aspect of our program and to sample some of our content. Our next roundtables will be Friday, September 11, and Friday, October 23, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm CST.

Value Institute for Health and Care Webinar Series

If you missed one of our COVID-19-focused webinars, you can watch them all on our website. We had many inspiring guest speakers, including Washington State’s Pandemic Health Response Director Vice Admiral Raquel Bono, University of Houston Hobby School of Public Affairs Dean Kirk P. ICHOM Webinar: A Value-Based Approach to Leadership

On June 24, Director of Education Alice Andrews chaired a webinar for the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) titled “A Value-Based Approach to Health Care Leadership.” Speakers discussed how the value perspective and outcome measurement are critical for leading health care organizations through the pandemic.

Emerging Leader in Health and Medicine

Keegan Warren-Clem, adjunct professor at the Texas School of Law and McCombs School of Business and guest faculty in the MS in Health Care Transformation, was one of 10 people selected as an Emerging Leader in Health and Medicine Scholar this spring by the National Academy of Medicine. Congrats, Keegan!

Improving Access to Mental Health

Prof. Alice Andrews provided an expert witness statement to the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. This is an independent commission of inquiry instigated by the State Government of Victoria, Australia, to accelerate improvement of mental health care models, access, and navigation.

Outcomes Measurement in Action

A new article about UT Health Austin’s Livestrong Cancer Institutes describes how their team used the Capability, Comfort, and Calm framework created by Executive Director Elizabeth Teisberg and Managing Director Scott Wallace to develop an outcomes measurement strategy.
